I used to have a K6-2 sysytem that ran at 83MHz ,this included an ISA network card.I had no problems with running at these speeds ,but when I tried running it at the same speed in an Intel LX system the NIC became unstable

.Anyway I still have that NIC in my little bro's PC and it is doing fine

.
The biggest risk running at 83MHz is that the IDE/HDD interface can't handle the high speed & that can easily scramble the data on your HDD!(Maxtors are(?)/were the worst for that).Best thing before trying a 41.5MHz PCI speed is to image your HDD 1st just in case.
For the short term (aside from the above)if 83MHz doesnt work on your PC then no harm will be done.If it is stable at 83 MHz then your laughing

,as for any long term effects to your PCI etc devices running at overspec speeds (stabily) ,well ,who knows!

Maybe you could start a new thread asking exactly that? ,their must be plenty of people who have done it for years.I had no problems with my bits!

.Though I did corrupt windows slightly on a friends PC!

,fortunatly it was easily fixed
