Hi all,
If you have an old car or a car with high mileage (50,000 km or more) here
is a tip that can help your improve fuel economy and improve throttle
response to your car.
My fuel economy for the last two years was averaging mid 8's to high 9 & 10
liters per 100 Km, I used fuel injector cleaner with little improvement and
I thought my oxygen sensor need to be replaced. Overall, I thought my car
was just getting old with 210,000 Km and thought little could be done unless
I do an engine rebuild. I decided give it a last shot and used Gunk Air
intake throttle body cleaner & Gunk Motor flush on my car. I noticed a much
improved throttle response, higher idle, more powerful start and better fuel
economy so far, it has been only two weeks since I did the cleaning job.
However, 4 weeks ago a drive to Whistler and back I lost half a dip stick of
oil and just on Saturday a drive to Whistler and back with no oil lost and a
fuel economy of 7.64 liters per 100km (City/Hwy). Maybe the oil lost before
was due to that the oil was just old & dirty and this time I used a new high
mileage motor oil. A couple of months more will tell if I am losing any oil
and the overall improvement to my fuel economy. All so my car is 13 year old
now.
Gunk Air intake throttle body cleaner: $ 6.48
* Remover air intake housing from throttle body
* Start engine
* Spray cleaner into throttle and work the butterfly wheel. (Use the
whole bottle of cleaner)
* Shut engine off
* Install air intake housing to throttle body
Gunk Motor flush: $ 7.89
* Add the whole bottle 948ml to oil crank. (To cold engine only & do
not drive car)
* Start engine
* Let the car idle for 5 to 10 min
* Shut of engine
* Drain oil and replace oil filter
* Add new oil & filter
Cheers,
Aquaman
