Was McCain going to lower taxes and shrink the government? I think not..

as a person of mixed races, I find it a little offensive no one mentions Obama as half/black-white. just black or african-american, like being part white's a bad thing.

Hell of an insecurity complex, Doc.

Oh, and the strong wording of your post made me think of this...

News flash: Every generation, fewer kids give a crap about race. Every generation, more mixed-race couples give birth to more mixed-race kids. Do you honestly think that 66% of young voters would have voted for a black president a couple decades ago? The world changes. Racism may never totally disappear, but it's getting marginalized more and more as the years go on. Races are merging, and as people rub shoulders with a more diverse group, they stop seeing race as a huge separating factor.

Half of the "racist" things that you hear these days have more to do with socioeconomic factors than race. Back in the day it didn't matter if you were rich or poor, if you were black, people hated you. These days there are still some people who might make disparaging remarks about "black people", but when pushed they are always careful to quantify it as "the lazy ones who are on welfare, don't work, and keep complaining about government oppression". It's a step. Not to say that classism is any better than racism, but at least wealth isn't something which is fixed at birth.

Quebert, you must be one of the only people who seems genuinely angry that this election proved that Americans are getting less and less racist. Don't worry, there are plenty of other things to complain about if you feel the need to be constantly dissatisfied with life.

now that i think about it, i guess it was kind of delusional to think that a white condidate had any chance against a black candidate considering the amount of appeasement to blacks this country has been going through lately. can you imagine the amount of racism claims we would have heard had obama not won?

*le sigh*

Obama's victory had almost nothing to do with his race.

He was a Democratic candidate running after eight years of the most unpopular Republican president in modern history, the economy going to crap made it even more likely that voters would want a regime change, his entire message of "Hope" and "Change" resonated very well in an uncertain time period, he's an excellent public speaker (after watching Bush struggle just to read a speech off of a page), and he picked a competent, experienced running mate instead of a brain-dead moron (who is, admittedly, a MILF). Obama could have been black, white, asian, or martian; he still would have won this election.

The entire reason that Kerry lost the last election against a fairly unpopular incumbent was because he wasn't able to brand himself--instead of voting FOR a John Kerry, people were voting for a "Not-Bush". You might be able to get a number of votes that way, but not enough. What made you think that McCain running on a platform of a "Not-Really-Bush" would do any better? Obama actually got voters excited about voting FOR Obama.

If anything, if you have a hint of black blood you can still be classified as a minority, with all the benefits such as preference in admissions, hiring, sympathy from the media even if you're not poor, inner-city. So keep crying over nothing.

wait really? I'm part north African...
which part?

The part that likes malt liquor I'm guessing

Oh snap!

all hell would've broke lose if he'd lost, or imagine if it were close, all of the cheating and faulty voting practices that would've been looked into.

This election has proved that we are far from equality. We are still nostalgic from recent history, and it will take many more centuries to over come.

lots of racism in this thread. Lets just hope people keep their stupid sides on the internet and out of real life. Don't need to be passing this on to the next generation.

Gonna be a fun 8 years.

Are you saying that Obama won the presidency by appeasement? He won because he was a smooth debater, ran an excellent campaign, and ran on the Democratic ticket. It was pretty much impossible for a Republican to win after GWB - America just hated him so much and he gave all Republicans a bad name.

Edit: And don't even bother talking about the black vote. That always goes toward the Dems anyway (although I think it is possible that more came out to vote for one of their own race).

Too bad this black president-elect isn't someone blacks can be proud of. Kinda feel sorry for them, with the anticlimaticism of it all.
It's not his lack of authentic blackitude that's the problem. It's Barack's anti-Americanism.

Alan Keyes would represent them better. To the degree that any president represents his race.

amen
True that. Obamites (in general) are willing to break the law to get their way, make no mistake.

seriously.....imagine living through the riots and police dogs and separate but equal....and now there's a black president.

Half black raised by white people and abandoned by his black father. But who cares about the details...

and viewed as black by the majority of people, Racist people don't give 2 shits if you're 90% white, if you look black you're black. Do you think the fire hoses and police dogs were less forgiving because a person was 1/2 white? Obama would have gotten his ass chomped and hosed the fuck down just like every other black person.

Racists aren't exactly known for their intelligence. Well some of them may be intelligent, but it does you no good if you refuse to use it.

95% of African Americans vote Democratic. I"m not saying there isn't some sort of racial bias, but truth is, it had more to do with his party affiliation than his skin color.

From what I could find, Clinton had 84% of the AA vote- Gore had 90%. Where are you getting '95% vote Democratic', aside from yesterday?

Yeah gotta love Affirmative Action! Blacks are SO LUCKY to only get the opportunity at 2 or 3 out of every 100 positions. I know as a White man who is all but promised the other 98 positions 10/10 times I'm fucking MAD AS HELL ABOUT THIS! Why should they be guaranteed 3% of the jobs and I only be guaranteed 97%, it's B.S. I want 100% of the jobs to go to only white people.

benefits? lol you're sooooo crraaaazy!

look who just got elected president. time to stop whining about being held down.

So one black person gets elected after 43 other men have and now America is magically this place of total equality? I guess Obama advancing totally negates all the blacks being held down because they're black.

I'm sure they'll all be happy to hear you've declared this.

no, but if he can do it, any black man can.

So we cant stop affirmative action until the presidential numbers are even? thats gonna take a while. Not to mention we have to catch up on Asian-American, and Hispanic-Americans too. See ya in 3012.
