Does anyone know of a site that still sells the older Socket A motherboards?

Have a neighbor that needs to replace his. He doesn't want to have to replace the CPU and memory.

- Socket A (462-pin)
- PC133 168-pin Memory
- AMD 900 MHz Thunderbird

Thanks!

A month or so ago, I looked through the list of refurbished MB's available from Newegg, and saw several that run the old PC-133 SDRAM sticks. But a check just now drew a blank.

However, for $69 plus shipping, you get a mini-tower case, Soyo KT-133 MB, and even a power supply, at

I didn't take the time to see "how old and slow" of a T-Bird it would handle.

Additionally, there was a list of 8 sources for MB's with the KLE-133 chipset (related to the KT-133 somehow), most of which were selling the same model MSI MB, but there also were two Biostar sellers, and two Soyo sellers offering mb's your friend can look at:

As always eBay. I was going to buy an A7V133 recently for an 850 I had lying around, but my KT133 mobo magically started working.

Might as well chuck the PC133, now that you can get 256MB PC2700/PC3200 for $20 or 512MB PC2700/PC3200 for $40. That will give you far more options in a new motherboard, something like this:

ECS KT600-A, KT600 + VT8237, 266/333/400MHz FSB, ATA/133 + SATA/150, USB2.0, up to XP3200+ - $38.00 shipped

OTOH, if you must cling to that PC133, here:

New BIOSTAR M7VIG PRO, VIA KM266, SDR + DDR, ATA/133, AGP2.0 slot, USB2.0, all-in-one, Retail Box - $34.00 plus shipping

BIOSTAR's product page: M7VIG PRO

Great little board, I've used a few of them.
