So I'm in the middle of setting up my new PC and I'm wondering about the whole xp / format stuff.

I've got 2 hard drives.
1 has 2 partitions, including XP
Second one has 3 partitions.

I'm keeping the latter (for new pc), since it's a faster drive while I'm giving my old pc (along with the first drive that has xp) to my sister.

I can ghost my XP from one hard drive to another, so I can retain the ability to use programs installed right?

If I do a clean install of XP on one of the partitions, I'll lose the ability to use any program from the old xp?

If I do ghost my xp, how would I go about using it on the new motherboard? It's just a complete hassle to uninstall then re-install programs again =

If it comes down to it, I'll just buy another harddrive and install everything anyway.

Much appreciated!

Yes you can ghost as long as you dont try to move the image to a machine with different hardware

Clean install will wipe, repair install will not

You just try to get it to work on a new mobo, 90% of the time it will BSOD and you will need to reinstall

K, ghosting is out of the question since I was planning to move the ghosted hd to the new pc.

Thanks for the quick answer.
