aceshardware.com

I believe one of the editors who works at Anand used to be over there.

And once a year the forum would get somebody thinking it is the Aces Hardware Store's website. And they write a complaint. Funny stuff.

No, it was definitely happypuppy. It was a game site and it hosted a bunch of demos.

Happypuppy was great.

Heavy.com used to be great too, like a cross between Maxim magazine and a flash games site.

Aces Hardware is being mentioned a lot. Anyone know why it disappeared? Lack of traffic?

I used to go to rotten.com around 1996 when I was new to the web. After a while those gory images remained in my mind making me feel bad. So I decided not to patronize that site anymore.

Best decision I ever made.

I think the people running it lost interest or didnt have the time to keep it up? I think one of the members took over the domain but it never came back.

Voodoo Extreme from the Billy "Wicked" Wilson days was always entertaining.

This is trickling back into my memory in pieces but I THINK that happypuppy was previously happyhippo and it was once a killer warez site back in the mid-late 90's.

Hmm, I dunno. This is what I find when I look for info on it:

Happy Puppy, the Web's No.1 game site is a happy beneficiary of this trend. It got started 18 months ago, when three developers decided to market their games by putting demo versions on a Web site. It quickly mushroomed, and cybernauts visiting happypuppy.com can now sample all the popular games That makes the site a mecca for advertisers pushing everything from games to MTV to Sunny Delight juice. Happy Puppy's ad sales have been growing by 35% a month since May, and executives expect operating profits by October.

Ragingbull in it's old form. I remember ONE THREAD over there titled "therealphantommenase" was well over a million posts long. That particular thread was a daytrading thread.
