So I'm on my work laptop getting ready to send an email with an attachment. I click the "attach" button and *poof* my virus checker pops up and says programxyz has virus Padded. OK so I didn't think about it other than it was strange I had a virus in the first place. I went to have the virus checker remove the file and came back to the email to attach again, *poof* now a new program has the same virus. So I looked up Padded and found it was something from the late 90's that was supposedly benign because it just replicated.
My boss had mentioned she wanted me to reinstall her ancient home laptop because she got a call from her ISP that she was sending out virus' and her account was being frozen - so I'm guessing she brought it into the network as she tried to backup files. Nice eh?
I'm running a virus check on my desktop and my laptop but haven't come up with anything better yet. Anyone know anything about this old virus and how to find and get rid of it in case my virus check can't find it?
