Old Video prob

Ok, to try and make a long story short I pulled a hd (unformatted) out of an old hewlett packard and installed it in a newer Compaq which has the old HP monitor hooked up to it, however since I did that I can only get 16 colors and 640x480. I tried reinstalling different adapters and monitor drivers, updating them, etc. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You don't have the proper video card drivers installed.

Where do I find the correct ones? I tried both HP's and CPQ's sites and no go...
