i recently purchased a q20wb viewsonic lcd 20" monitor,

it is simply AMAZING. i love the colors and everything.
but as soon as i run anything (i tried warcraft 3 for example) in full screen or windowed mode, there are these horizontal flickering lines.

i plugged it into my 3.5 year old asus m6ne laptop with a mobility 9700 64mb video card.

my question is, is the flicker becuz my vid card sucks and cant keep up, or is it becuz of the lcd? keep in mind the flicker is almost unnoticeable (i just have very good eyes), but once i see it it distracts me.

monitor is @ 60hz. 75 didnt change anything, and i dont dare go higher.
im just testing this monitor out as im building my new rig, but i havent built it yet so i cant test it with another computer.

I would recommend changing the Video Card with the one with the DVI port.

It cannot be that expensive to upgrade from 9700, especially when you can afford $200+ for the LCD.

UPDATE: Sorry, I just re-read your post and it is a laptop...

It is the Video Card IMHO.

If your monitor did not come with the DVI port, I would recommend returning it and/or replacing with the model with the DVI.

8800GTS has 2 DVI ports, and you can use D-Sub, but at a cost of decrease in picture and color quality compared to DVI.

My LCD now shows flickering horizontal lines (on some backgrounds, usually solid colors). It didn't used to, but it seems to have started once I installed my Conroe865PE motherboard. I guess it's some sort of noise induced into the system by the mobo. It's not horribly distracting, but sometimes I notice it.

ok it says it has dvi-d connection
i did some research... but cant find the difference between regular dvi and dvi-d
i know that dvi-d is a digital only connection, and that there is no audio? someone help me figuer this one out.

i checked the specs on my gts, apparently it does come with a dvi-d cable.
i want to know..is dvi-d good?
