You more than likely won't be able to use an old version of Skype as it will want to update. I wish I can still use the old version of Skype. But I really don't use it anymore and rely on more secure VOIP solutions.

I haven't used Skype in a long time. I just tried signing in to Skype and I couldn't so I clicked the "can't connect" link and I changed my password and still couldn't connect. So I uninstalled Skype and installed the latest and then I was able to connect. So with old versions of Skype you more than likly can't even sign in.

Hmm, there is something wrong with that site then.. maybe try file hippo?

For some odd reason, it lists all the Skype versions but I cant download them. When I try, it just redirects me back to the description page of the old Skype I am trying to download.

Does this happen to you?

I have a Teamspeak server using encryption for VOIP. But there are others I can't remember off hand.

Just to say, recently, Skype kept nagging me bigtime to get update. It was VERY ANNOYING. I resisted until the version I was running stopped working, I could not log in.

You can't connect with anything under 6.13 I don't believe. They swapped from a p2p based network to a back end server network to improve their instant messaging capability. Older versions can't connect to the new server network and the p2p network has been closed down for a couple months at this point.

Fixed that for you.

Skypes p2p network was insecure already anyway. You could sniff the traffic as it passed through your machine and you're deluding yourself if you though it was secure. Adding the backend servers made it so you can IM people who don't actively have Skype open. Before that messages sent when someone was offline got lost.
