Thaw - if it smells good, then cook to minimum safe temperature. If it doesn't smell good, then throw out.

Else don't be so cheap and just throw it up & chalk it up to "money lost because we didn't pay attention to what was in our freezer for a decade."


Edit: upon further thought - cook it to the minimum safe temperature and feed it to your dogs or cats. The food isn't wasted, the pets are extra happy. Everyone wins.

Ok, I let it thaw. I pulled it out of the package. No freezer burn whatsoever. It looks as good as new honestly. Doesn't small bad at all. I'm going to grill it and eat it. Just going to smother it in buffalo chicken wing sauce. wish me luck!

at what temperature is the freezer?

-20 C? maybe fine, but toss

-70 C -80C totally fine.

Should be fine if they were frozen the whole time from a safety perspective. From a flavor perspective, they will have absorbed a little flavor from everything that has been in the freezer during that time. Also, they could have dried out quite a bit, making them very tough. This could be mitigated by marinating/cooking with lots of oil/fat.

I speak from experience on this.

uhm, what kind of industrial ass freezer do you own that keeps a temperature of -112F below zero?

I work in a MoBio lab. ():)

Actually, I've seen a few of those free on Craig's List before, lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a few of the commercial grade, top loading freezers can get to near -50 C, no?
