Just remember how fun old toys were....

What was the name of that thing that came with 3 colored pens, and you stuck them in a little gear type thing, and rotated them around on top of a sheet of paper until it made a pretty little pattern?

And how can you forget the etch a sketch?

And those funky orange binoculars..wtf were they called?

They dont make em like they used to. Its all video games nowadays....

What were your favorite toys as a kid?

Don't forget the GI Joes that shot missiles and stuff. Now its all "safe" toys. Survival of the fittest I say!

hehe yeah spriograph! That thing was the sh*t! Gotta find me one of those on ebay. The travel version was even better. I remember when they used to make travel everything!

As far as action figures go, GI JOE was cool, I had the big white plane that took me like 4 hours to put together. LOL, and your collection was not complete until you had Snowjob. :D Of course we didnt quite understand it back then....;)

Transformers always kicked gi joe's ass though. If you had optimus prime, you were officially the coolest kid in school.

We had one when I was a kid called VacuForm which you could make little molded plastic toys with. I doubt they could make these today with all the safety nonsense that is in place.

My parents were too cheap to buy a Teddy Ruxpin. Weren't they like a hundred bucks?

Lite Brite always seemed like a cool toy but when I actually got to play with one I remember being bored with it.

My personal favorite was speak n' spell... haha

Stompers - cars that used a AA battery

those cars that had a button on top and when pressed the car would pop up into the air when rolled

penny racers

micro machines

Darda tracks and cars - the cars you pulled back on to make them move forward - you could change out the "motor"

yeah, I liked car toys as a kid

i played with a lot of legos as a kid, then moved onto Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figurines. Then back to legos. Teddy Ruxpin was higher priced, but then about 5-10 years after they released the original, they remade him with cheaper parts and he looked retarded.

ooOOoo..i just remembered that i have Pee Wee Herman toys still packaged up in the basement somewhere...The talking Pee Wee pull-string doll, and Cherry, the blue chair whose eyes move with the toggle of a lever in the back.

Rather than Legos when I was a kid we had something called American Bricks. Similar idea to legos but mainly used to build brick looking houses/buildings. Also we had Kenner Girder and Panel building sets to build skyscraper type buildings.

Man you had some lame toys dude!!! :p

I don't know what's up with all you guys, but when I was a kid I had a magnifying glass. I took Zanzibar (the GiJOE), ripped his legs off and shoved a red crayon up his torso .. then laid him down and burned holes through him with the magnifying glass .. the red crayon would melt out the holes and you'd have Zanzibar the dead and fvcked up ... also played with lighters and I had a starter pistol (that didn't last too long though) .. didn't anyone smoke bumwatos? And what about the kids that lived in apartments .. as I did .. weren't you into throwing sh!t off the balcony?

Lego was cool too .. and uh, so were RC cars ... and model rockets .. cause if you had a model rocket you could make bombs .. bombs are cool.

edit: Oh yeah!!! Almost forgot the best thing .. my slingshot .. decimated a whole frog population with that thing one summer ..

I really feel bad about the frogs now though .. poor little guys. I love frogs.

You guys are dating me here, I was like 15 when Teddy Ruxpin came out. I had original Star Wars Figues, weebles, a Green Machine, Lincoln Logs, Legos, Erector Sets, Lite Brite, Play Doh, Silly Putty, and sit and spin. And yes we threw lawn darts at each other, had rock fights and BB gun wars and are all still alive and in one piece. Damn PC American media trying to protect everyone.

Hey you children of the late 70s&80s - do you remember SLIME?

That gooey stuff that came in a green plastic garbage can (or it's sister product, the pink slime with rubber worms in it)? How can ANYONE that handled it ever forget the smell? I can recal it now - quite a unique odor!

lol I actually ran around selling newspaper subscriptions in the late 60's and one of the prizes was a container of Slime. That stuff was a blast.
