Old Town Alexandria?

What's Old Town Alexandria (VA) like? Is it a good place to take a girl on a date (dinner and then walk around) Is it pretty there?
 
The walk by the river is nice(many places to stop and canoodle =D) and the lights are especially pretty during christmas. I wish I could give you better details but it's been a few years since I've been down that way. I think there's a xandos(coffee/cafe)down there if you're looking for a place to chill and talk for a bit. Dunno too much about the bars as I was too young to be bar hopping when I hung around there. I prefer to go to adams morgan or georgetown. Better spots to people watch, drink etc. etc.
