Howdy!
I've been poking at my dad's old laptop and have run into some annoying problems. Apparently, the Geforce 4 Go graphic drivers aren't supported by NVIDIA, and were often customer tailored by the notebook manufacturers.
The native resolution of the Satellite Pro 6100 is an unusual 1400 by 1050.
I've previously tried some third party drivers that were more current, but they resulted in half an inch of black on one side of the screen. Toshiba's most "modern" driver on their website is from 2002 and results in videoLAN player throwing a hissy fit / not working.
The main problem I'm having right now is that DVD playback is averaging around 3 frames per MINUTE. The system is a Pentium 4 mobile, has 1 GB of RAM, and is running windows XP Professional SP3 and has a Geforce 4 Go 420 (I think? maybe a 440). It was recently reformatted and reinstalled on a newer HD and is relatively "zippy" for a notebook of it's age / era. I've tried DVD playback on videoLAN player so far with no real luck.
Any thoughts / suggestions welcomed.
