I've been watching a lot of westerns lately, and I'm split between Have Gun will Travel and The Rifleman. Currently watching Wanted: Dead or Alive, and I'm getting ready to watch another series. So whats your favorite?

I never watched a lot of western series, but I always liked Bonanza. Stretching the genre a bit, Kung Fu was probably my favorite.

Kung Fu totally counts. I was putting it in the poll when I ran out of space.

Bonanza FTW.

I tried to watch Gunsmoke, Big Valley, and others but did not like them as much.

Bonanza is still on. I watch it every now and then.

If you have access to MeTV, they run all the great old shows. I was watching Gunsmoke until I found it it ran for like 20 years. No way I'd catch up on that. Wild Wild West is kinda interesting to watch. I didnt know it was basically James Bond as a cowboy. I remember watching The Big Valley as a kid, and was excited when we drove into Strawberry on the way to Tahoe. Strawberry is where Heath Barkley (Lee Majors) was born. Apparently I said that like a million times on the trip, and to this day, if my mom knows I'm in the area she reminds me to stop in Strawberry. I dont even remember the show, just that fact.

Bonanza. I like Gunsmoke too, but didn't really watch it until TVLand.

F-Troop was awesome!

Edit: I didn't see Kung Fu on the poll :(

Firefly.

Otherwise..never cared for westerns, although I enjoy some of the older western movies.

I voted rifleman, he was pretty bad ass with that rifle. His son was a bit annoying but in all a good show.

Bonanza was great as well.

I am glad you didn't put Little house on the Prarie in the list. That was probably the worst western ever. Did anyone own a gun in that town?

It wasn't a TV show, but the made-for-TV Lonesome Dove with Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall, Diane Lane, Danny Glover, Rick Schroeder, Robert Urich, Anjelica Houston, and Steve Buscemi was pretty awesome.

Michael Landon knew how to handle a gun! He was in The Rifleman a couple of times. If I had more space I have put 50 shows in the poll, although I dont think I would have thought of Little House. I did put Dr Quinn on the lisr, but only cause that Hawkeye wannabe was pretty tough at times.

Deadwood
Firefly
Wild Wild West
Maverick
Little House on the Prairie
Wanted: Dead or Alive
Kung Fu
The Phantom Empire (yeah it was a series of movie shorts originally, but I saw it on TV as a TV show, and when I was a kid, it was awesome)

I voted Rifleman, but then I remembered Branded!

That was a GOOD show.
(Not really a true "Western", but F-Troop was the bomb!)

LOL at "old timers" and using Brisco and Deadwood as choices.

Probably The Guns of Will Sonnett, Bat Masterson and Bonanza.
Though Linda Evans was hot on The Big Valley.

I knew younger people would come in and want to vote for something. I seemed to have missed the boat by not putting Firefly in there. Everyone likes to vote on polls.

I read the title (correctly) as Old Timers (me), favorite TV Western (from any time period). If this is not what the OP meant, the OP screwed the pooch.

I meant old timers, as I'm looking for input on my next western series to watch, most likely from the 50-60s. Old timers would know. But you cant age lock or test prerequisite western tv knowledge, so there are a couple of options for someone who didnt watch those older westerns. Besides, old timers can still like Brisco and Deadwood! You guys obviously knew what those shows were. If someone grew up watching the old stuff and selected Brisco/Deadwood/Dr Quinn, that would say something about those shows.

I know, I was being funny. I didn't list any of the classic serial westerns from the 50s 60s because I didn't like any of them, Gunsmoke, Rifleman, Big Valley, Lone Ranger, Bonanza, blah blah blah. Seen one seen em all, so I put Zorro as my representative of them.
