Old Threads Auto Deleted?

For one thing, the search appears to be useless as it cannot find any threads by me when searching by author... nor does it do well under other circumstances.

I am unable to find a post I started called "Building Video Editing PC... What to look for?'. I have a link to it in my email inbos (a reply notification) but when clicked I get the following error:

'ERROR: Sorry, we were unable to locate the object requested.

Error Code: 102 '

Huh? I would expect threads to live longer than mine (May is not long ago). I lost some good info that I had no idea would dissappear like. First such occurance in all my forums experiences.

Is there any hope for recovery? And is this common or even on purpose?

Thanks,
DB

I have heard that archived threads have their address changed when archived. That being said, I am currently trying to remember how to change active to archived threads.

Threads are archived after 90 days. You can find them by changing to search parameters to "Archived Messages (over 90 days old)".
You won't be able to post to it since it's archived. In the future, if you want to be able to post to it, don't let it go (bump) more than 90 days without a reply/bump.

if you havea bookmarked thread that gets archived, just add &arctab=y to the end of the bookmark and you are good to go.

Thanks,

Sorry for bothering the forum superman, but I swear that I did look around twice and somehow missed it. Is there any reason it should be set to the last 90 days by default?

The powers that be apparently have decided/dictated it to be.

And as you may have noticed, any request for changes around here seem to move at the pace of a glacier.
