We had vacuum tube amps when I was a kid, they were all woefully underpowered. I think the only diff. vs SS is a tube amp will clip the waveform "softer" vs a transistor amp, the simple solution is not to overdrive the SS amp. Also the older vintage transistor amps (old pioneer, Kenwood, Yamaha ect. were of much better quality than today's crap. Frequency response was always rated at 20hz-20Khz not 40hz-20khz like todays stuff, skimping on power supply is what it amounts too.
