I know better is a pretty personal thing, but...

... I just finished setting up my 1080p lcd tv (that's well reviewed) and ran it through it's paces. My 3 year old plasma, a lowly 720p set, kinda blows it away, providing a much richer picture and a more just more of a wow factor.

Now, I understand why LCD is the future (or oled, or led/lcd, or whatever), but I gotta say that I much prefer my older set.

What other techs do you prefer old school versions of?

Another one I'd add is laser printers - I friggin hate inkjets, but they seem to have won the war

Gas stove top burners compared to electric/ceramic.

Oh, and of course plasma looks better than LCD - better blacks, better color, better everything, etc. LCD is not the future, it is the future for low cost displays but not high quality ones.

MP3 players. All I wanted was one with a lot of space without a bunch of other junk. The iPod Classic and the Zune 2 were probably the last of a dying breed... and I hate flash players because I have too much music, and when I want to listen to something on a whim, chances are it won't be on my flash player.

This.

Return the LCD while you can, you're never going to be happy with it if you're coming from a plasma. LCD's just make crappy TV's. There's no way around that.

Had a 1.5 mp digital camera made by Fuji. Big clunky and actually took regular AA batteries. Traded WAYYYYYYY up to a Konica 5 mp camera and honestly wish I had not sold my other camera. The Fuji took pics that were actually like a still camera. Softer around the edges and nicer looking. Modern(er) technology gives me pics that are not nearly as good as the oldies, and a bit harsh ( even after tweaking it for 3 years, I still cannot get a pic remotely close to the Fuji) .

Megapixels are no replacement for good optics. Lesson learned and noted.

CFCs used in propellants and R12 in refrigerants. Deet in pesticides.

Absolutely agree. Can't beat da' DEET.

Yeah, I don't even bother with it if it doesn't say DEET. The difference between repellants with DEET and those without are like night and day when you have to hold perfectly still while hunting.

I remember reading an article in a magazine that talked about in some african country where a million people were dieing yearly from malaria. When DEET was introduced into pesticides there the malaria deaths went down to something like 280. But then DEET was banned and once it was pulled out malaria deaths skyrocketed the next year to something like 700,000.

Causing that many deaths over the fear of something of which we have no definite proof of harmful effects seems crazy to me.

I'd love to see you walk around my old warehouse with a printed-out inventory report and a pencil.

Dial-up.

Broadband access makes me waste entirely too much time on the intrawebs.
