I'm hoping someone can help me with finding an old game that I used to enjoy.

The name was "Star Siege" (maybe had a "sub-title"), and it was completely focused on mechs with really good multiplayer. Does anyone know if perhaps I have the wrong title, or maybe where I could find this game?

Thank you

Yep, Star Siege, played it on my 486. Probably one of the 1st PC games I played once I got my own PC.

I loved the game.

Back when there was a patch made for Tribes that got it to work with Vista, I emailed the developer to see if he could make the same patch for Starsiege since they used the same engine. He was kind enough to provide me with a file that got it working in Vista/Win7. If anyone needs it, just PM me.

You may be thinking of Earthsiege. I doubt Starsiege would play very well on a 486. The game was released in 99.

oh maybe that was it then...is star siege a sequel or something, because the description of star siege sounds exactly like the game I used to play.

I remember playing Earthsiege 2, it was out about the same time as Mechwarrior 2. And yeah, it was a prequel to Starsiege. Great games.

Yes... they are all a series, and it includes Tribes

Starsiege is a mecha-style vehicle simulation game developed by Dynamix and released in 1999. Starsiege is set in the Metaltech/Earthsiege universe, which contains its predecessors Earthsiege (1994), Battledrome (1995), and Earthsiege 2 (1995), as well as action game Hunter Hunted (1996),[citation needed] strategy games Mission Force: Cyberstorm (1997) and Cyberstorm 2: Corporate Wars (1998), and first-person shooters Starsiege: Tribes (1998), Tribes 2 (2001), and Tribes: Vengeance (2004). Starsiege is the end of the Earthsiege series and the beginning of the Tribes series.

Which one versus which one? I was an absolute sucker for the storyline of ES/SS and the packaging for them was MUCH better than any of the MW games.

Then again, I own almost every Battletech TR and loved all the games sooo...

I'd say the other way around, but it may be Earthsiege 2 I'm thinking of.

I loved Mechwarrior, but Earthsiege actually kept me playing; it drew me back.

Starsiege was pretty good, but I really loved Tribes, and even made a mod of it and maps (http://www.planetstarsiege.com/balance). I play alot of shooters, and no game since the original Tribes (not even the sequels) have come close to that level.
