One morning it began to snow very hard and continued snowing steadily throughout the day. A snowplow set out at 8:00 A.M. to clear a road, clearing 2 mi by 11:00 A.M. and an additional mile by 1:00 P.M. At what time did it start snowing?

Before tackling the problem, the following assumptions are made:

1). The rate of snow fall is constant.
2). The rate of progress of the snow plow is inversely proportional to the depth of the snow.

Haha.. According to our calculations, it started snowing around 1:42 AM.

If you use the assumptions and differential equations, then you can get to a decent answer.
