Old school: SGI 1600SW

Back in 2001, I was on the verge of getting this monitor. I'm glad I didn't considering that now I can get a Dell 2405 for $800 or so. This old SGI 1600SW was 17.3", had a resolution of 1600x1024, and sold for $1500. It actually came with its own video card. Amazing.

And in 5 years, you'll be able to get an OLED 24" display for $800 that blows the colors and contrasts off of the 2405.

nice to see that the res has not gone up in all that time. I'm sure they could squeeze more crystals in a 17"
