Old school P3 Dual Question

I was thinking of putting together a dual p3 system for my friend. I have 2 P3 500's but the SL#'s are different. Would this still work on a dual board?

What are the SL numbers for each one, I'll look up their steppings. IIRC, they should be no more than one stepping apart. The different SL numbers might even both be the same stepping but one OEM and one retail-market.

Bigger picture: a $25 used 1GHz Duron will utterly trounce them on most of the CPU-intensive stuff such as games. A $45 1.8GHz Duron Applebred would run circles around them under all circumstances. Unless you already have all the parts... yeah. Don't blow the bank on the dual-P3 😀

Here we go: [L=Intel S-Spec list for P3's]

The SL35E is coming up as the kC0 stepping. They don't show a SL365, typo check?

true, anything is faster than that.

To head off any possible problems, put the older stepping CPU into CPU Slot 0. Hopefully, CPU0 will be labelled either on the board on in the manual.

I had a terrible time with P3s on a Tyan Tiger 100 running mixed steppings. Was fine if the older CPU was primary, but if it was secondary all hell would break loose.
