Well OK, not that old school (swapping crystals, using jumpers, etc.) :p

Got an "ancient" 1045t Thuban setup going this weekend for seedbox, VM hosting and DD-WRT duties.
Nothing too crazy as it's only running a simple Zalman CNPS5X and the VRMs have no heatsinks (~70C under load).
Kind of fun to tweak all the various dividers and voltages, compared to just upping Vcore and CPU multi :)

Old school? I was expecting something considerably older. I had to look up that CPU. In 2009, I turned to the dark side. My next project upgrade is a new home server. Let's hope that AMD is competitive in price and performance and I can once again return.

Heh, well I wasn't going to invest the time to OC something like a C2D, mobile P4, Yonah, etc. :p
At least the Thuban at 3.7GHz is pretty snappy. It's about on par with a decently (~4.4GHz) OCed Sandy/Ivy in MT tasks.

There's several voltages you can play with on Skylake too, you know.
