Before sharing music in mp3 format, there was a file format called a "mod" (with the extension .mod). These weren't really recordings of music, but more like transpositions of music made by people... sort of like making a midi, but you had multiple channels that you could assign different sounds, so you could (in theory) make entire songs. It wasn't a midi, it was a mod, and you needed a mod player. This predates the popularity of that crazy thing we call the "internet" by a couple of years (the early 90's) and goes back to the days of BBS'ing with software like Renegade, etc. ANYWAY, if you remember this (well, I'm impressed)...
There was once a e-zine put out with a song called "Pork." It might have been included there and been a standalone file, or maybe it was only ever packaged with this e-zine. If the former, maybe the filename wasn't just "Pork", but it you'd recognize it as such because it went "pork porkporkpork porkporkpork pork pork pork..." with a crazy little techno beat in the background. At one point, there'd be a break in the song and it would say "Drew, I just saw the most disgusting thing in the toilet. (deep voice) BALONEY!" and the song would simply continue. It was classic, it was awesome. I've been looking for it for years, and so have some friends of mine, but to no avail. So here I am, to appeal to all of you, please help me find this mod. If it helps any, I was in the 305 area code (Miami, FL) at the time when I found it, but I think it came from some other city.
Where is that song that haunts me to this day!? Where is "Pork"!?
