Old-school controllers required to play old-school games on Wii

Nintendo dropped the ball requiring old-school controllers to play old-school games on Wii IMO, why not just make them compatible with the new Wii controllers?

Which new Wii controllers? You mean the Wiimote? How are you supposed to play SNES or N64 games with it?

Because the Wii controller only has 4 buttons. The N64 had 8 and the SNES had 6. You'd have to go back to NES releases to have 4 buttons.

Why would you want to play an old game with the Wiimote? That sounds lame. The classic controller is only ~20 bucks IIRC.

Kind of OT, but I've been playing The Secret of Mana on the VC, damn that game is awesome. I think I'm gonna go buy an SNES so I can play some of those good old RPGs.

If you can afford the inflated price of virtual console games than you should certainly be able to afford $20 for a classic controller.
