I have an old Sabertooth X58 board that has a problem with the sound, as i have read for that model it was a standard problem, did they ever fix this problem with a bios update or would a cheap sound card fix it.

Redstorm, i have 5 other computers far newer than the Sabertooth X58, i just wanted to fix it up so it is useable for XBMC, so i need sound, i have had 5 kids become adults and 2 more at 17 years so i have collected a lot of computer parts over those years. i also use the spare parts to build computers for people who can't afford to buy them. So im looking for a way to get this computers sound working.

I'd say a Sound Card then myself.

I've never owned a Sabertooth, use the P6T7 here so I guess I can't say if a BIOS update, but I still use an old aftermarket sound card in mine.

But it's higher end and even bought an adapter card to use it again, I'm sure there is a good one that's reasonable out there.

Are a few people using them in the thread above, you might ask there as they are popular and would probably know about any BIOS issues I'm sure.
