old ps2 system question...

What was the first version of the old "fat" style ps2 to have the built in IR receiver not requiring the dongle for dvd remote?

I'm pretty sure my launch day PS2 had that.

hmmm..i've got an older one that requires the use of a IR plug in at the controller port for the remote to work

oh, that might be how it worked. I just remember I had a remote.

The version 9 PS2 (50001) has a built-in IR receiver I'm pretty sure. The earlier models don't.
