Old Printer, New Laptop = ??

I'm trying to configure my old HP Deskjet 952C printer with a new Dell XPS 15 laptop on a home network. Said network consists of the following:
two desktops running XP SP3 and the new laptop running Windows 7.
The printer works perfectly fine and works with both desktops.
Now I'm trying to get it to mesh with the laptop and I'm having issues. The driver is installed on the laptop and the printer works fine when the USB cord is plugged into the laptop. But when I unplug the cord and plug it back into the desktop and then try and print from the laptop, the laptop searches continually before telling me the driver can't be found.
If it helps, both desktops are connected via a wired connection through a Netgear WNDR 3700 router.
