Old Playstation

It's been awhile since I've used my PSX, but when I tried today, it didn't work. If you have a working PSX, can you leave the lid open and put in a CD and then press the POWER button? As I recall, the disc should spin right and you should hear a beeping sound? Mine doesn't spin and no beep; I just want to isolate the problem. I'm pretty sure I can't do anything about it with Sony cause it's pretty old. Oh well.

if the lid is open then the cd wont spin. if you push down on the little button in the back of the cd area, it will think the lid's closed and will spin up, and that "beep"...i think its just a funky noise made by the motor, i know what youre talking about, both psx's i've had have done it, but its not a beep persay, but a funky little beep-type noise.

yeah i know its not exactly a beep, but i dont know how else to describe it. anyway, with lid closed, i still dont hear anything so i think its dead. im going to try and take it apart and play with the insides unless somebody knows whats wrong.

My motor is dead inside the PSX. Anything I can do about it besides trash it? If there aren't any options and you want a late Xmas gift, PM me.
