Old people, ever get bothered not seeing anyone from high school?

TallBill

Lifer
I had a weird dream last night and saw so many faces of people I went to high school with that I havn't thought about in 5 years.

I havn't talked to any of my old friends in years, and we've gone in such different paths.

Anyways, I woke up all depressed wondering what people are up to. Anyone have luck setting up an alumni website or something?

Not really. I have trouble going back and not sounding like a condescending asshole.

Most of my class ('96) was still living with their parents no less than two years ago.

My wife is the same way. She was one of about 5 people in her class that actually went to college. And she's one of the only ones now that hasn't cranked out three kids and scraping by on minimum wage.

Small rural schools...not exactly the epitome of high aspirations.

i never see them either. i guess if i wanted to, i could go hang out in my hometown. they're all still there, pretty much.

Kevin Garnett is the only one I'd care to see again as far as people from high school. Maybe he could loan me a mill! 😀

Seriously though, the only people I care about from high school I seem to bump into every few years or so anyway.

Actually, I married someone from my high school and am still friends with a few others. What sucks is that I have 3 20-year class reunions in a row: spouse's was this year, my first is next year, and my other one is in 2007. I'm dreading the next 2 even though the first one went ok. They all have websites up and used classmates.com to start the process of organizing/finding people.

What's absolutely cool is that one of my best friends in college found me last week using classmates.com. Haven't seen him for 15 years.

i swear 99% of the people from my high school moved out of town after graduating college (not that unusual i guess). even my parents left. now i get back to my old town maybe once a year and i NEVER see anyone i knew. only people i keep in touch with are like 2 friends...everyone else has dropped off the face of the earth

however, where my wife went to high school, like 99% of them NEVER left home! so when we visit her old town it's ridiculous. it's like seeing everyone she went to school with.

very odd.

Well, about 2/3's of my school went to college, and everyones to the point where they are graduating now and doing whatever.

Oh, and my wife was in my graduating class too, and she only talks to like one person from school.

i dont know if anyone I went to high school with is still alive. I got out of high school about 25yr ago. Did seeone girl for a while... she was a waitress in a diner in which i used to eat. Havent seen her in about 3yrs though.

No, I prefer not seeing them. Saw one skanky girl I graduated with a few years back lugging around 2 brats and with a bun in the oven.

"we keep gettin' older... and they stay the SAME AGE!!" 😛

High School creates us. Nice memories and fun experiences are fun to ponder, but when I left school, I really never turned back. The occasional 'run-in' to someone from the past is sometimes a invigorating experience, but honestly, 90% of the time I feel like turning invisible so I am not recognized. I am not ashamed of who I am, nor what I do, but I just feel uncomfortable doing the proper 'catching up with old times bullsh!t.' If you were that important to me, I will contact you, otherwise, when you see me, please keep walking. Thank you.

I graduated in '52 and have never gone back for a reunion.
Have seen maybe 4 people out of the 305 in my class since I graduated. None of them were friends.

I don't have any good friends from high school. Moved around a lot - ended up going to 3 different high schools in 4 years.

my high school is having a makeshift 5yr reunion it seems. Kinda just found out about it a week ago.. and it's tomorrow night. heh. While it be cool to see some ppl again, I'm just too damn lazy.

I barely remember who I went to high school with. It was a huge HS in the Bronx (I guess 2000+ students..don't remember) and I only made a few friends. I never kept in touch. ..god I hated high school.. constant fights, drugs..etc..I couldn't wait to get out.

Nope. I didn't like most of the people in my high school. I wanted to stay in contact with about three of them.

Person A: Fell out of contact during college.
Person B: We broke up.
Person C: Friendship ended nearly 3 year ago.

So, nope, not bothered at all.

By the time I was 30 there was a list of a dozen kids I knew in HS that were dead already, everything from cancer to wrecks to drugs/crime & sui.
