old pc keyboard port

Hi, I got some old PC's. Theyre of the Intel i75 and around that range, they are like 75 MHz and 125 MHz cpu's. The problem is that they dont use PS/2 ports, so I cant use my PS/2 keyboard. There is at the back of these PC's what appears something that looks like an older PS/2 port but is much larger. Is this a port for the keyboard or the mouse. These things also have severa serial ports, I have a PS/2 to serial adapter. I tried this, but the BIOS still wont let me through as it says there is keyboard error. Help me please, how can I get through this?

its an AT keyboard slot, and you can get AT>ps2 adapters that will let you use a ps2 keyboard in these ports.

You could also try a local store to see if they have any really old keyboards they can sell you, I would think they should be cheap. I know some colleges have these lying around waiting to be thrown.

As of 1.5 yrs ago, I could still walk into a store(officemax, actually), and pick up a keryboard with an AT connector, and a AT-ps2 connector for newer computers. Good luck finding a ps2->AT adapter, as I got laughed at like I was from the dark ages at compusa when I asked that question.

The keyboard I picked up was a MicroAdvantage2000, if that helps you at all. the only problem is that they were changing out the actual keyboards inside the box with newer ones with the silly win98 buttons(if you haven't seen them, be happy), and no AT connector this time around. I had to take back the first one, and have them open the box of the second one before I bought it to make sure it had the proper AT connector, with an AT-ps2 connector

Radio Shack sells adapters. I bought one a couple weeks ago.

From what I've seen they're a bit over priced in Radioshack.

Try looking at Best Buy too. Don't ask the dudes to help you, because usually they don't know what they're doing anyway.

And a lot of mom and pop computer places (in VA at least) sell AT keyboards for 2 bucks.

Office Depot sells them too, but they have them in these "AT converter kits" which include 4 different converters, so it's over-priced if you only need the one.

Thankyou. Also, so what mouse would this kind of computer use? A serial mouse? These things dont have PS/2 ports. There are several other parallel ports and what appear to be game ports. So, can someone tell me where teh mouse would fit into these things? Does it plu into one of the serial ports? I have a PS/2 to serial port adapter? Should this be fine. I wont know if it is fine now as the BIOS wont let me go through unless it detects a keyboard.
