I'm not sure if this is a nationwide deal or not, but I went to two Old Navy stores in the Richmond, VA area lately, and they were both selling American Flag t-shirts with the year 2002 written on them for $0.79. I guess they're trying to get rid of them because 2002 is almost over. They had kids sizes for $0.49.

You'd use the American flag for rags!?! Doesn't something seem wrong with that idea?

I hoping he was just using a slang term for clothes, although it seems like a poor choice of words,

<Edit> Ya beat me to it! :)

Are you people kidding? What is wrong with using an 80 cent t-shirt as a rag? And who cares if it has a flag logo slapped on it. If you are going to get your panties in a bunch, how about finding something a bit more useful to get upset about.

And incidentally, these American shirts aren't even made in America (unless Old Navy has done a complete about-face on their production locations). These shirts need a Guatemalan or Chinese flag instead.

And to bring an end to this rant... anyone with any clue as to what a flag means and stands for would know that the American flag should not be a decorative part of a piece of clothing.

And thanks for the post atrowe, I might be stopping by Old Navy tomorrow.

First let me qualify my statements to come by saying that I do not condone using the American flag as a "rag."

However, just because one wants to use a tshirt with the American flag printed on it as a rag does not make one a "terrorist."
It may not make one the most popular person around here, but it surely does not make one a terrorist.

Furthermore, I find it somewhat contradictory to want to support the ideology of what the American flag symbolizes by
infringing upon someone's 1st amendment right by suggesting a "one week ban."

Don't take this as a support for Ander, but I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt for his/her choice of word.

We're not a communist country. If he wants to use an american flag as a rag, he's entitled to that. If you have a problem with that, then go become a citizen of cuba, china, or north korea.

You fascists should be glad you live in a country where you can use a flag tshirt, or a flag for that matter, as a rag.

I believe rags here is used as a slang term for clothing. At least that's how I read it until I saw all you guys jumping all over him.

He could wipe his ars with that T-shirt for all I care... after all, it is LEGAL...

hell, he could go buy a 40 ft. flag from a flag store in Flagstaff, Flagsville and use it to line the bowl of his fascist toilet... it's LEGAL people...

Man, everyone's using the term "terrorist" way too lightly.

for with every t-shirt purchase, 2 cents goes to the child in the 3rd world country who made it!!

makes great stocking stuffers. maybe he meant he would use his rags to wash his american car such as a giant gas guzzling Ford Explorer?
