Have several questions about the old Mushkin Level One dual pack. Its rated PC3500 233. 2.5-2.8 volts.

**EDIT** Corected the stats above, oops

Anyway Everything I read indicated it was CH-5 winbond chips.

I was going to RMA due to some memory issues, but Mushkin Tech support insists that it is in fact Winbond BH-5.

So...
1. Is this true? (he seemed to look it up somehow...)

2. Would two year old BH-5 be the same as current BH-5 (Which likes voltages up to 3.4 - 3.6 volts)?

3. Should I try over-volting past the 2.8 volt warranty limmit?

I've had decent overclocking, but not amazing, and I'm worried that the mem errors are a sign of bad things to come.

Help would be appreciated...

BTW he said both the older level two and level one were BH-5 and NOT CH-5. He said that the replacement would be something with Mozell SAT5B chips, sorry about the spelling but I have never heard of these...

quite possible that it is BH5
current BH5 would be the same but they will most likely use TCCD/TCC5
overvolting is your call

If the replacements you get are Mosel SAT5B, then overvolting won't help you at all. Those don't respond to voltage above 2.7-2.8 at max. They're not the best overclockers either. They're good for 200-210 FSB at 2-3-2-5 1T and loosening up the timings to 2.5-3-3-8 or 3-4-4-8 would only get you about 10 more MHz anyways, so you're looking at 220 FSB at max.

Thanks for the input.

To elaborate. I only get the memtest errors at "default" settings. They go away with increased voltage and I can get OC of about 225 to 230 at 22257 timings, but I don't want to void the warranty so I was planning on not running that kind of voltage as a matter of course...

I can get 245 at 33368 timings again past warranty voltage.

HERE IS MY REAL ISSUE:
Its not so much the chips, but the PCB. I figure the difference between current BH-5 Redline at 3.4 volts and older BH-5 is the PCB and its ability to handle the juice. Basically I'm not rich and can't just burn out my RAM and say oh well and buy new stuff.

So how likely is the PCB to be at issue in this way???

My BH-5 is amazing, will not boot at stock 2.6volts however just blue screens, have to crank it up to at least 2.9 to even begin with.

what are your "default" settings?
What kind of RAM is yours (with the BH5 Chips)?

My RAM is 2.5 to 2.8 volts for warranty. Any more voids it. At 2.8v I am still not stable at default settings which are 232... Mushkin was fine with the RMA but since they don't make this RAM anymore they said they would replace it with some crap that doesn't overclock well and would be stuck at like 217-220 tops. Yick!

Mushkin instists after I read the numbers off my modules that they are BH-5 and my current opty system runs nice and stable at 240/480 22268. If only I had a mem divider that would match my best stable RAM and CPU. I have to trade almost 100 MHZ to run 240 and 241 is no good no matter how much I relax timings even if I go to 3.2vDimm. So I run at 3.1vDimm and 225 at 22268, and my max CPU nice and dual core stable at 300x9-2700. I can probably eek more, but I like my vCore at 1.6v don't want to go further even with my TR SI-120 and 120mm Antec TriCool Fan at max.

I know this chip has 2800 in it on air, but my skills (and time) just are not up to the task.
