Old mobo problems and new mobo questions

Hey guys, I have three questions.

1. I'm having some computer issues. My comp has been working fine, up untill a few days ago. I shut it down and XP hung while shutting it down. I then manually turned it off, and I was then unable to turn it back on. No power to the mobo or anything. However, it came back to life the next day. But, here I am, and it won't turn on. I've tried a different power supply and still no luck. I've even tried my power supply in another computer and it won't work. I'm kind of at a loss as to what is up... My specs - Epox 8k7a, Antec True 380, AMD 1.33

I'm thinking I may need/should just upgrade mobo/processor, and probably get a new power supply. Money is kind of tight...

2. I'm thinking of getting the XP 2400 /266 FSB. Is it worth the extra 20 or so to get the XP 2600 /333 FSB? I'm not a huge gamer. I'm more of an Adobe/Macromedia user. Also, I'm not an overclocker.

3. With the processor in mind, I am curious about RAM. I have two sticks of 256 DDR 200mhz PC1600U Crucial RAM. In a perfect world I'd save the money, bring them to the new mobo and get another stick of RAM to slide in the third spot. However, I don't know much about how to match up with FSB, clock, or even if different speeds of ram can go together..etc. The times i've built a computer they were from scratch so I just went to crucial and selected my mobo.

Any help with these three questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance :)

1) does indeed sound like a bad powersupply
2) Yes, the 2600+ is a better deal than the 2400+, just for the fsb speed, if no other reason.
3) Your memory is problematical. It may work with the 333fsb, but most likely will not. But you could run it not sync'ed to the FSB until you can get better stuff.

Thanks for the response.

Looking at Crucial it looks like the best bet for now would be to get a 512MB DDR PC3200 stick.

Am I correct in assuming to just get the fasted RAM? FSB shouldn't really effect it right? I'm trying to think how I would set the bios and get all my questions out of the way now :)

thanks for the quick response

For certain go with the PC3200, even if you don't intend to run it at 400 now. It'll save you at some point when you do want to exceed 333.

That said, I've always heard good things about Crucial, but I have no personal experience with this RAM.
