Old Man Murray Wiki Article Deleted... Internet Objects.

So the Old Man Murray Wikipedia article was deleted for lack of notability. You guys have already probably read about this since there was an outpouring of dissent on websites like Kotaku, Joystiq, Slashdot, RPS, etc. When Rock, Paper, Shotgun heard about it they e-mailed a large list of notable figures in the industry to get their endorsements of OMM's impact so that the article would not be deleted.

It's a great read and reminded me of how utterly awesome that site was. The Deus Ex walkthrough is classic, not to mention their innovative review system Start to Crate. http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/84.html http://www.oldmanmurray.com/features/39.html

Anybody else here passed as many hours on OMM as I have? If anyone isn't familiar with the site, the one of the authors was a writer for Psychonauts, Portal and Portal 2.

Correction: deleted because the wiki admin doing the deleting organized a sustained campaign to get everything about the OMM guys deleted that he possibly can. Apparently the OMM people insulted him ten years back.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, to find out that a Wikipedia admin is a fat ugly dude wearing a tie dyed shirt and flip flops and carrying a purse.

Heh, first thing that crossed my mind when I saw that pic was: "basement dweller!"

It appears to me Wikipedia has basically no safeguard at all against one or two neckbeard losers removing content due to their grudges/disorders. At the very least, deletion of an article for notability (read: subjective) reasons should take several admins to do, the same people should not be able to nominate it for deletion again if the deletion is denied the first time, and repeated, obvious conflict of interest edits should lead to warning/ban for the admin.

Well, yeah I know. I was more interested in digging through the OMM archives than bothering about some mouth breather.
