Old laptop screen... useful?

Hi, I have an old Toshiba Tecra 500CDT laptop, and the laptop itself is pretty useless, so I was thinking I could sell it on ebay for about $50, or I was wondering if there was any way to detatch the screen, which isn't bad, and use it as a monitor or something of that sort? Is this completely insane or would it be possbile? Thanks! 🙂

BTW, I'm new here so I'm not really sure if this is the right category, but it seemed closest to the question. Sorry if I posted it in the wrong place!

There are a few articles floating around on the subject you describe but unless you are already very familiar with designing and building electronic equipment you better forget about it.

what I have always wanted to do if I got such a crappy laptop is make a photo gallery to hang on the wall.

You'd have to modify the case so it bent back on itself like a tablet PC, or lay flat and you'd have to come up with some way for it to get power from the wall that wasn't too ugly, but then just load it with windows 3.1, acdsee 2.x and a lot of digital photos and set to slideshow.
