Old Laptop, Ridiculously Slow

Hello AT! Long time no post!

I ran into a problem today that's mind-boggling to me. I have an old netbookish laptop I recently upgraded with a SSD, but have been unable to get working satisfactorily even with the upgrade.

Somehow, even with a fresh Win7 install and a brand new SSD, this laptop ends up slower than when it was brand new a few years ago with the OEM Win7 install. I was hoping that a brand new SSD would fix it or at least get it back to as fast as it was when it was still new - what can I look at for potential speed improvements?
 
It's a few years old Asus with a...MV40, 2gb of ram, and the mentioned SSD. Failing to see why I can't get it up to at least the speed it was at when I first bought it with a SSD.

Is the CPU overheating?
Are you sure that the RAM is still showing 2GB?
Have you got windows on "max performance" in the power options.

Run WEI and post your scores, it might highlight the problem.
