Old Lady Nailed My Car Tonight (Saturday morning update) NOW with better pics!

So I'm driving in Santa Monica taking a left turn from Ocean onto Pico. I had a green left turn arrow so I go to make the turn. Some lady (old) in a rented Chrsyler Concorde proceeds to make a right turn and nails me right in the right rear door:| As I jumped out of my car some guy hopped out of his to hand me his business card and tell me he saw the whole thing and it was obviously her fault (she turned into the inner lane instead of the outer one.) There were two traffic cops at the next intersection who came down and made sure everyone was ok but then returned to their post. I got all her information including the rental company that owns the car (they were on vacation from NJ). The lady driving got all upset saying that I wasn't looking blah blah blah. Luckily her husband was far more calm as I'm sure he realized it was her fault. I got all their info minus insurance (as I guess they had it back home). I'm not really concerned since the rental company owns the car tho he said he would give me their insurance info when they got back to NJ. Anyway, here are some pics:

Diagram of Accident (revised)

EDIT: I should add that the damage is cosmetic and the door still functions properly, I think. I haven't tried rolling down the window tho.

UPDATE: 4-19-2003 The husband just called me to tell me that he should be able to get me the insurance information on Monday. He kept reassuring me that they were "good people". Maybe you East Coasters are alright😉😛 One question tho; do I involved the rental company or just deal with these people?

She was oncoming traffic. Let me see if I can come up w/ a diagram. That's a '91 Accord Sedan. And for the asshat making the dirt comment it rained like two drops yesterday at school so naturally it looks filthy.

I'm confused... when you make right turns aren't you supposed to turn into the inner (rights-side) lane? And you were turning left on a controlled light?

Yes, exactly. Hence it was her fault.

Okay, so since it was a controlled left for you, why does it matter which lane she was making her right hand turn into?

It really doesn't but it just compounds the fact it was her fault🙂

I really hope it was a good rental car company, cause by law they do not have to fix your car, she does, and if she did not have issurance you may be in for a long fight.

BTW I work for a rental company

ok, so basically she ran the red. was she in the second lane from the right which was why she was supposed to turn wider?

She was in the first right lane taking a right turn.

Well, if she manages to get out of this I still have excellent insurance so I'm not too worried.

oh ok she was going wider than she should have. and if she'd have hugged the curve more she might not have hit you. right?

She would not have hit me had the turned into the right lane instead of the left lane.

I apologize for the pics. Not a lot of room between my car and my dad's truck in the driveway. I'll take some better ones tomorrow.

Confused, you were on ocean going toward Pico and made a left on Pico from ocean right. Now from what street did she make a right?
