Old iPhone 30 pin adapter to 8 pin lightning adapters....?

I ordered this the other day:

And it arrived today and it doesn't work. I got that one specifically because one of the people in reviews said they got it for their car and it worked. My car came with an adapter in my middle console that plugs to the aux input however it is for a 30pin iPhone connector. I have another adapter like this:

But I believe the one I have is a real apple one, and that one works just fine. The problem is I have to slide my case down for it to fit.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of one of these adapters similar in design to the top one, that will actually work with music. Most of the ones on Amazon have reviews saying they don't work with music, so I thought that one might work since someone in the reviews said it did for them.
 
I didn't know they made authentic versions of these. But if they do, it should have "Made for iPhone" on it.
