I'm having problems with an older Intel 875PBZ system. I realize this is an old motherboard, but I would like to keep this rig running if possible.
It ran flawlessly for years, only to be put in storage for a couple years when I upgraded to Win7 64 bit and had to build another computer. I got it out of storage to run my slide/negative scanner and it's been running fine until yesterday.
It powers on, fans are running but there is no post screen or HD activity light. The DVD player apparently works; when I put the XP Pro disc in, it beeps five times but nothing happens. I put in a new CMOS battery but that didn't help. At this stage of the game, I'm thinking it's either the PSU or the motherboard, I think I have a spare PSU, but if the mobo is dead; that's all she wrote.
Any ideas on what might be wrong? I'd sure like to keep this system running.

I would first check the caps on the board for leaking or swelling. If any are then you know the board is toast. You could try fixing it.

The best bet is the PSU is dead. Try a spare and see what happens.

Good luck.

Some of those boards did have a problem with faulty capacitors, hoping that's not the problem.

The best bet is the PSU is dead.
That would seem to be the lesser of two evils at this point.
