Old HP PC will not boot from anything

I pulled out my old HP 762n which still has it's original motherboard/cpu and a few other pieces of old hardware in there. I was planning on using it for a PVR and as such had wiped the hard drive which was installed in a newer computer with the hopes of installing my new copy of XP MCE 2005 on it. When i hook up everything in the computer it boots to a blue HP screen (normal) and then tells me:

DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

So I insert my windows CD into the cd-rw drive and hit enter...same screen. I try going into the BIOS options by hitting ESC and it takes me to a boot priority screen. Floppy is the first priority but I don't have a floppy hooked up to this PC, nor do I have one at all!

I hit ENTER (per BIOS instructions) on the cd-rom thinking that needs to boot first, but still no dice. I have tried just the CD-rom plugged into the master spot (both of the masters) and still nothing. I do not know what I need to do to install XP MCE 2005 on my freshly formatted HD. Any suggestions as to what i'm doing wrong?

thanks, I figured out my problem was actually trying to use my XP w/ SP2 slipstreamed disc that I made from my previous installation, I did not create the ISO boot disc properly so it would never work. Remade the ISO and I got everything to work. Thanks for the input

(it was PATA by the way)
