Old HD into new PC, bios errors, can't flash bios, P5DGC Deluxe

Basic summary of problem:

I just built a new PC and I want to put my old HD from my old PC into my new PC and still keep it as the primary boot device because it has all my music, school work, etc on it. When I try to boot my PC up it begins loading windows for about 2 seconds and then flashes a BSOD for another second and then reboots the computer. I decide to try and flash the BIOS so I download the latest non-beta ASUS BIOS except when I try to flash it, it gives me these errors:

"ASF Signature not found"
"ERROR: BIOS has no flash information available"

I've already cleared the CMOS and it still doesnt work.

Another couple of things that I have noticed is that when I go into BIOS I notice that my IDE drives do not show up in Primary, Third, or Fourth (no secondary) in either master or slave, but still show up when the IDE channel is scanned right after POST.

Here are some screens I took with my digital camera, hope they help:

Here is a list of what I have in the computer:
ASUS P5DGC Deluxe
Pentium 4 630 @ 3ghz
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 XL
80gb Western Digital 7200 SE (master - IDE - BOOT)
13.6gb Western Digital 5200 (slave - IDE0
200gb Western Digital 7200 SE (SATA)
1gb Mushkin Black SE PC3200 (2x512 - Dual Channel)

What should I do, keeping in mind that I want to not have to format the 80GB that I want to boot from.

With that motherboard, there is only 1 ide channel from the chipset(all new intel chipsets only have 1 ide,4sata)(blue), and the other 2 are from the ITE IDE/RAID Controller(Red ones) which is why they show up on that.

You can try to hook the 80GB hdd to the Blue connector and then it will show up in the main bios list.
As for the bios flashing problem, Id re download the flash utility and bios. As well as make sure there is no bios write protect turned on in the bios. Cant remember if asus boards have them.

Thanks for the solution with the hard drives not showing as the Primary IDE Master/Slave! My optical drives unfortunately are still connected through the IDE/RAID controllers as there are no other blue IDE controllers, thus I'm not able to select either device to become a bootable device.

The bios flash problem though still isn't fixed, and there is no bios write protection through the bios.

I've surmised that the main problem is that Windows is not allowing me to put my old 80gb Hard Drive into my new PC and still boot from it, for some reason. How would I go about in fixing this? Maybe if I did this, I wouldn't have to worry about flashing the bios? Or maybe the bios flash problem is causing me not to be able to boot properly?

Once again, thanks for fixing one of my problems Dahak 😀

It is never a wise idea to swap the drives(hoping that the OS will redetect devices)
when doing a motherboard\cpu swap.

Do yourself a favor and do a Clean Install of the OS.

You have this nice, new top-of-the-line CPU\Motherboard.
Why not make full use of it?
