Old Hardware Question

I just received an old IBM 300PL 6565-84U that I was hoping to convert in to a linux box. I tried to run the Knoppix CD on it and it didn't boot from CD. I've entered the BIOS and it is a Mickey Mouse dumbed down version called an Intel Boot loader. I tried to find the boot sequence to place the the CD-ROM in front but there is no option I could find for this. I tried flashing the BIOS but that didn't help either. I'm at a loss at what to do here to get the PC to boot from the CD. Is there anything I could do about this?
