OK, I had to fix my friends hard drive, so I threw a new one in, put Win98 on. Then he tells me all his "games" (Rodent's Revenge, Jeezball. All the "good ones") are on his other drive. So I put the drive in, and I see nothing. I bring it back to my place, throw it in my computer, and what I see is a "386spart.par" file which is 12 megs, a dblspace.bin which is 51KB and a dblspace.000 file which is 100 MEGS. (There are other files, some INI, sys, etc..) I am wondering, is this some sort of old compression or what? And can I salvage his old games, or do I have to re-download them for him?

Thanks
Trevor

On Windows 9x/ME
Programs -> Accesories -> System Tools -> Drivespace

Choose the drive with the dblspace.000 file on it, go to Advanced on the Menu
and choose "Mount". That should give you access to the compressed drive that your
friend saved all his data on.

ahh good old compressed files...brings back memories :) - Remember, compressed drives are dog slow, so you may want to copy it over
