Hi all,

I need a new ATX PSU for an old gateway pentium... it's an ASTEC ATX145-3485. I search for the model number on google, but only came up with a few hits - and they wanted $60! for a new one.

My question is... will any old ATX 145W PSU work in this situation, or do I need a 'compatable' one? I does have a fan mount along the bottom that points down to the CPU - not sure if that's necessary for the CPU, or if I could just go with a rear exhaust model.

Thanks!

PS - Happy 4th of July!!!

I'm fairly sure that gateway power supplies are wired normally, so any power supply would do, 145 watt or greater. BUT... that style power supply, with the fan on the bottom, was generally smaller than a normal power supply. It's something to watch out for.

The fan on the bottom was used to cool the cpu, as most of the time gateway didn't use cpu mounted fans. You may run into heat problems without a good flow through the case.
