Hi guys, I never was a big gamer back in the day. I first got into it with the DC and later games on the PSX. Now I am hooked though. I just finished up all my current gen games and sold them for money for the XBOX360. I only kept BF2 and HL2.

While I wait, I was thinking of catching up on all the games I missed out on. I had a Genesis and PS1, but I was pretty young. I still beat the great games like MGS, RE3, and Castlevania though.

IS it worth it to pick up any older games on the N64, SNES, etc. I already picked up a few PC games from the FS forum.

Mafia
Grim Fandango
Red Alert 2
NOLF2

I might download Super Metroid, Ocarina of Time, and some others. What games do you recommend? Also, I saw that some modders retexture the games to make them look better. There was a screen of OOT that looked comparable to WindWaker. Do you know anything about these.

PC: I started playing through the marine part of AvP2 and loved it for a while again recently.

Lots of fun w/ the megaman X games on the SNES.

For N64, I still think Super smash brothers is worth playing.

PC, if you think halo is old, I think its worth playing.

PS2 or PC, Manhunt is a great game.

Erm... any game that was good 10+ years ago is still "worth playing". The only thing that has changed in video games is the video and sound quality. Graphics have never made the game for me, but ever since PSX it's become disgustingly common for people to judge a game's worth solely by them.

Escape Velocity was an awesome series, except only one installment in the trilogy is PC-friendly. the rest are Mac only at this point. Homeworld was good, if you're into 3D RTS games. for console systems, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean 2&3, and, of course, Final Fantasy 7. Haven't played much other console games that I've liked a lot.

It's been a while since I played it but I'm pretty sure escape velocity: nova has official mods by the creators that convert it to either the original or overdrive.

My recommendation since noone else will make it is Strife if you can find it and get sound on it(wouldn't be the same without sound). (in german ascent) "A worker last week fell into the reactor core. Splat instant deep fry. Just tell them you're the replacement for mister crispy and they'll let you in."

You list Fallout and Fallout 2, but not Planescape: Torment or Baldur's Gate 1 and 2?

Great Scott you're right! I forgot about those. I was one of the few that actually tried to do every side mission in Baldur's Gate 2. I'm sure I racked up over 200 hours of play on that game easy. The BG games had such a cool story didn't they?

great if you can handle the ancient gfx ['99 - think the original Thief's Dark Engine] and clunky interface.

There are several mods for SS2 that utilize updated and higher resolution textures. Although, the graphics still look dated, but the new textures help a little bit.

I'm trying to get an idea for what you are looking for. Do you want every good game from every system? Specific genres? Specific consoles?

Genesis:
Shining Force 1
Shining Force 2

PSX:
Xenogears
Parasite Eve
Legend of Dragoon
