I have a older EPOX 8K7A MoBo. I just upgraded my CPU from a 750 Duron to a Athlon XP 2000. I updated my BIOS to the most current one offered by EPOX. I also moved the jumper from 100 mhz FSB to 133 mhz FSB. Multipler is set to auto. The system comes up fine and the CPU appears in POST to be running at the correct speed 1.67 Ghz at 133 mhz FSB. The only problem I have is that when the system does POST it says that the CPU is unknown. Windows says the same thing, Unknown CPU. Anyone Know why this is? Is it something I will just have to live with? EPOX website does not say anything about it.

Thanks

PS: I put this in the Motherboard Category too but I wasn't getting any responses.

Depending on the processor core, this is normal. You probably got a Thorton. If everything appears to be working fine, then there's nothing to worry about.

It is suppose to be a T-bred. At least that is how it was listed when I ordered it from newegg.

Yeah, everything appears fine so I probably won't worry about it.

Thanks anyway.
