I have an Epox 8K7A with a Thunderbird (1.33ghz) attached to it. I was wondering if I would run into problems if I upgraded the processor to an AMD XP 1.8ghz chip (Thoroughbred). It's a socket A mobo so I figure I wouldn't have any problems with it.

I have that same board in an older machine, running a 1ghz.

I believe I read somewhere the board will support up to a 2200 XP or so.

Just download the latest BIOS from Epox, and it should be able to support that CPU just fine.

Go and search this thread
LINK and you'll be able to find all the information you ever wanted to know. But you might want to start at the end and work your way forward LINK. But to answer your question, yes, it will support your xp 1800, most people are putting xp 2400s in the 8k7a. There are even people using the moble xp's with the barton core in the 8k7a because of the 266 front side bus.
