Old e2160 oc.

I'm still trying to get by with E2160 and 8800gs and it has been no problem so far.
As I wait for my next upgrade, I decided to push my chip a bit further.

it was 3ghz on stock voltage and before it wouldn't budge further.

I donno what happened but now it would do 3.2ghz fine with 1.4v. solid on 1.4v but not a tick less.

odd thing is it does boot even at 3.4ghz but not stable.

what is the safe voltage with these chips on air? abit ip35 btw.

so odd but it actually feels snappier @ 3.2ghz vs 3.0ghz.

1.5v is max intel spec.

I too noticed the difference between 3.0ghz and 3.4ghz.

Check your voltage when the cpu is completely loaded down. Those IP35E/Pro boards develop nasty droop over time. I thought my CPU was losing stability, it was just my voltage backing off. I put the voltage one notch higher and was stable again.

I found that as soon as I would hit 75C on 1.48v, my Orthos Prime testing would fail. I was impressed with how on the dot Intel was with their specs for this chip. I bet you can hit 3.4ghz too (this is what I had mine running at on 1.48v). Let us know.
 
ummm... this is a 2160, after all...i think > 1ghz oc ain't too bad without exotic cooling and enough volts to power a 3rd world country... you could swap in a 5xxx for cheap and probably get to 4 (if it's not your memory that's holding you back already)...
