hi everyone.
yes thats right i have an old Cyrix 686 comp, and every few hours... sometimes it reboots itself all by itself...
it will just be doing something, (usually there will be a few applications filling the memory / running the CPU) and it will reboot.

is this because its being overclocked? if i know right, it should be running at 66mhz... but im not sure what its set on... where are the jumpers for this located?

keep in mind this computer is pretty damn old, but i like havin it around on my home LAN for file backups.

thanks for the help!

probably heat related. try opening the side of the case and seeing if that helps. if not, unoverclock it. i think the bus for cyrix's varied BTW, could be 83 mhz or 66 mhz IIRC.

Why don't you use one of your SocketA or newer cooler to cool the Cyrix. I put one of those Monster II cpus awhile ago from over(name is forbidden here) and wow does my MII300 run cool. Cyrix of yesterday ran hot, but they're nothing compare to today's AMD and Intel cpus.
